Distributed Collaborative Word Processing
CoEditSpaces allows multi-user simultaneous editing of a single shared document while automatically merging text as well as document formatting. There are no merge conflicts or locks to deal with. Users can freely edit any part of the text or apply formatting without any restrictions. CoEditSpaces does not require that peers be online to collaborate. Once a document is shared, peers can make edits offline and changes can be merged later. CoEditSpaces's capability to provide parallel document access can significantly boost productivity in the team editing scenarios, while saving valuable time otherwise wasted in merging various document versions two at a time.
Performance
Many online applications have an inherent dependence on the server capacity and network connectivity. When the internet connection slows or stops or server has capacity issues, your work gets interrupted as well. Instead of storing the document on a central server, CoEditSpaces stores the document locally and synchronizes document edits in a peer to peer fashion using a messaging system. Only incremental changes are transmitted from one peer to another. The entire document in its final form never exists on any server or computer, where it can be compromised or scanned, except on the user's computer and the sharing peers.
Full Featured Word Processor
CoEditSpaces is not a HTML based web editor; rather it is a true word processor with a custom text layout engine written in Flash. As such it provides text processing capabilities only available to advanced word processor users including:

Connectivity Independent
CoEditSpaces is a web application, however it is not dependent on the network for its operation. In fact it can also be launched and used as a desktop application. If network connection is lost, CoEditSpaces seamlessly transitions from online to offline mode with all the functions enabled including the ability to save the document. In this respect, CoEditSpaces works just like a desktop word processor. The changes made while offline are stored locally and sent to the peers after the connection is restored.
Ease of Deployment
Despite all these features CoEditSpaces requires no installation on the client side except Adobe Flash plug-in and Java in the browser. CoEditSpaces works on all major browsers and operating systems.
